New in 3.0
MyScript iink SDK 3.0 comes packed with improvements and several noticeable new features. This page provides an overview of the changes.
MyScript iink SDK 3.0 novelties listed in this section are available with our native APIs only.
New features
New Shape and Math recognizers
These two new recognizers are intended to address straight recognition solutions based on iink SDK:
- The Shape recognizer is dedicated to the recognition of shapes: no matter which ink content is sent to the Shape recognizer, it returns the shape(s) that it recognizes, with alternative recognized shape(s), if any.
- The Math recognizer is dedicated to the recognition of Math.
➤ For more details on how to use them, refer to Recognizers page.
New APIs for better undo/redo with OffscreenEditor
A HistoryManager can now be associated with an OffscreenEditor on creation.
This HistoryManager object gives you access to undo/redo stack manipulation (just like the legacy Editor).
The goal of the HistoryManager is to allow you to use undo/redo to preserve text recognition, rather than redoing strokes, which can change stroke order and recognition output.
To help you synchronize your undo stack with ours, we also give you access to ChangesetOperation, so you can know what our next undo/redo will do.
➤ For more details on how to use the HistoryManager and the ChangesetOperation APIs, refer to the Offscreen usage page.
Other changes
Shape enhancements
This enhancement allows for easier manipulation of shapes in "Raw Content": By optimizing shape design and connections, shapes are now easier to manipulate and control. Ultimately, optimized shapes offer greater flexibility and precision in how they can be manipulated, contributing to a better user experience in your application.
➤ Note that by default, this feature is not activated to keep previous behavior, so you should tune your configuration to benefit from it. For more details on what's supported and how to configure it, see the migration-guide and our Demo examples that we've configured to take advantage of this enhancement.
Update to the latest MyScript technology
MyScript iink SDK 3.0 is based on the latest version of MyScript's core recognition SDK, resulting in recognition performance and accuracy improvements.
While recognition assets provided with MyScript iink SDK 2.3 will stay compatible, you may want to update your users to the latest assets if you migrate them to 3.0.
Selection API changes
We have refactored some APIs related to selections. As a result, we have deprecated the ContentSelection getBox and getConversionState methods. If you have been using them, you will need to change your code according to the migration guide.
Math fonts changes
To improve the rendering of math content, we have changed our default font for Math. We now use STIX Two. If you are upgrading from a previous iink version, make sure to read the migration guide, as you may need to make some minor code adjustments for a better rendering.
Recognizer and RecognitionAssetsBuilder exception changes
Some exceptions thrown by Recognizer and RecognitionAssetsBuilder have been modified to provide better error handling. If you upgrade from a previous version, make sure to read the migration guide.
