New in 3.1
MyScript iink SDK 3.1 comes packed with improvements and several noticeable new features. This page provides an overview of the changes.
MyScript iink SDK 3.1 novelties listed in this section are available with our native APIs only.
Improved user experience with math in "Raw Content"
It is now possible to run on demand math recognition on a selection of strokes/items of a Raw Content part/block:
➤ A new method setItemsType() has been added to the OffscreenEditor which can be used to perform math recognition on a selection of items.
This method is also useful to manually adjust classification.
A new method getAvailableItemsTypes() now returns the list of possible types for a set of item ids.
➤ With the Editor, the setSelectionType() method can now be used to run on demand math recognition on a selection of strokes.
New Raw Content recognizer
This new recognizer is designed to analyze and recognize digital ink into text, math, shape, decoration or other elements whose semantics are known to iink SDK. The input digital ink does not require any explicit segmentation. Depending on its classification configuration, the content is analyzed by MyScript iink SDK to extract the document layout as blocks and classify the ink according to text/math/shape/decoration or other type. Recognition is also performed according to a specific recognition configuration.
➤ To learn more on this new recognizer, see Recognizers page.
New rendering APIs to implement additional brushes
We now support additional brushes based on new APIs that rely on OpenGL for advanced rendering styling. While these new iink APIs are cross-platform (and backward compatible), they are currently only implemented for Android.
A new Java class called GLRenderer has been added to the iink package. It is used by the Canvas class in the UIReferenceImplementation to implement an additional Extra-Pencil brush.
Configuration to support these "extra" brushes is done in the Demo sample code.
➤ For more details on how to implement these additional brushes, refer to the Rendering page.
Other changes
Update to the latest MyScript technology
MyScript iink SDK 3.1 is based on the latest version of MyScript's core recognition SDK, resulting in recognition performance and accuracy improvements.
While recognition assets provided with MyScript iink SDK 3.0 will stay compatible, you may want to update your users to the latest assets if you migrate them to 3.1.
Improvement of the iink SDK configuration
To improve the interactivity configuration, we have revised our iink SDK configuration for Raw Content and Diagram, for both native and Web.
We have also moved any text-document.raw-content.* or text-document.diagram.* key directly to raw-content.* or diagram.*.
➤ If you are upgrading from a previous version, be sure to read the migration guide!
