Introducing the iink SDK 4.️1 native APIs
Key math solver improvements with variable management
Introduction of variable management
With iink SDK 4.1 the MathSolverController now supports variables in math expressions.
Variables can then be used in solving by applying the numerical-computation action with the MathSolverController, or to evaluate a block expression for a range of values.
Variable management can be manual or automatic:
- Automatic means that a variable definition is automatically recognized and applied by the iink SDK.
The MathSolverController has a set of methods to retrieve the information about variables in a block.
By default this feature is disabled and you need to enable it with the
math.solver.auto-variable-management.enableproperty. - Manual means that the management of the variables that apply to a particular math block is done by programmatically calling some MathSolverController APIs.
Note that if you enable the automatic variable management provided by the iink SDK, you can also use the manual APIs to set some variables or domain constants for example.
Evaluation of a block expression to get plot-ready coordinates
The MathSolverController has an evaluate method to calculate the outputs of an evaluable math block expression, for a given range of input values. This allows you to get plot-ready coordinates that you can use to plot graphs using a graphics library.
Better control of the math solver result
We have introduced new configuration math.solver.settings to better control the numerical-computation action of the Math solver.
➤ For more details on how to manage math variables and the latest math solver APIs and settings, see the Math interactive features page and the configuration reference guide.
Handwriting generation
With iink SDK 4.1, it is possible to generate handwriting for English text: Handwriting generation is the process of converting digital text to digital ink by creating the basic strokes that form the letters, words, and sentences of the input text.
In order to support this new feature, we have introduced these main objects:
- a HandwritingProfileBuilder to create a HandwritingProfile that describes the handwriting style which can be either a predefined handwriting style selected from a dataset of handwriting styles, or the user's own handwriting style, learned from the user's handwriting samples.
- a HandwritingGenerator to generate a list of PointerEvent corresponding to the strokes from a text input String and a HandwritingProfile.
➤ To learn how to use these objects, see the Handwriting generation user guide.
Other changes
Google Play’s 16 KB page size compatibility
Starting with version 4.1.4, the MyScript iink SDK Android libraries now support 16 KB page sizes, in line with upcoming Google Play requirements.
As a result, version 4.1.4 no longer supports non-Neon Android ARMv7 devices.
Update to the latest MyScript technology
MyScript iink SDK 4.1 is based on the latest version of MyScript technology, which improves classification and recognition performance and brings general improvements.
While recognition assets provided with MyScript iink SDK 4.0 will stay compatible, you may want to update your users to the latest assets if you migrate them to 4.1.
