What's new

MyScript iink Cloud 4.5 comes packed with improvements and several noticeable new features. This page provides an overview of the changes.

Text-to-handwriting REST API for Latin-script languages

This REST API generates unique AI handwriting at scale for texts in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese. The API supports multiple handwriting profiles with stroke-level variation and can output bitmaps or SVG paths. The API is designed for direct mail personalization and pen plotter workflows.

➤ For more details, refer to our Text-to-handwriting API page.

Full support of math recognition and solving in the WebSocket Offscreen API

Offscreen Websocket mode now fully supports math interactive features including:

  • Automatic math classification and recognition allowing you to distinguish text, math or shape blocks from drawing blocks. Inside a text block, it can even identify math elements.
  • Variable management.
  • Automatic or manually solving.
  • Diagnostic to help you troubleshoot common pitfalls on a given task and the specified block.
  • Evaluation of a block expression to get plot-ready coordinates.

➤ For more details, refer to the WebSockets API architecture page.

Several language novelties

Support of Thai and right-to-left languages

Offscreen Websocket mode can now be used to provide language recognition and interactivity for the Thai language (th_TH Thai - Thailand) as well as for right-to-left languages:

  • ar Arabic
  • fa_IR Farsi - Iran
  • he_IL Hebrew - Israel
  • ur_PK Urdu - Pakistan

Major enhancement with a new multi latin languages text resource

Until now, the MyScript iink Web SDK had to be configured according to the language of the text it was recognizing. Mixing languages was not possible, except for using English as a secondary language.

Starting with MyScript iink Web SDK 4.5, the Offscreen Websocket mode and Recognize REST Raw Content can recognize multiple Latin languages with a single resource mul_Latn.

This new mul_Latn resource supports the equivalent of nine Latin languages resources: de_DE, en_US, en_GB, es_ES, es_MX, fr_FR, it_IT, nl_NL, pt_BR. Therefore, when you write text in a mix of these languages, the recognition engine only needs this new resource to recognize your text.

➤ To learn more refer to the languages list and to the Content Type description guide.

➤ To learn how to use the new resource, see the Websocket and REST Recognizer user guides.

iinkTS changes

Supporting the math recognition and solving in the WebSocket Offscreen API has required some refactoring of our Javascript library.

➤ As a result, we have updated iinkTS from 3.x to 4.0.0. If you have been using iinkTS, please see the migration guide for upgrade recommendations.

➤ Refer to the iinkTS interactive Math guide, to discover the math interactive features supported by iinkTS.

Other changes

We have added a new export.jiix.decimal-places configuration that allows you to specify the maximum number of decimal places to be used after the decimal separator in JIIX exports. The default behavior won’t change, no maximum value for the number of decimal places is set, but you can adjust this value to reduce the size of JIIX exports and optimize parsing.

If you upgrade from a previous version, please take a look at the migration guide.
