What's new

MyScript iink Cloud 3.1 comes packed with improvements and several noticeable new features. This page provides an overview of the changes.

New Web Offscreen Interactivity feature

Up to previous iink SDK Web, it was necessary to use the svg patches rendering updates sent by the server in order to take advantage of iink SDK Web interactive features via Math and Text WebSockets APIs. In 3.1, while retaining the legacy Math and Text WebSockets APIs, we introduce offscreen interactivity based on a new WebSocket endpoint and new WebSocket messages.

This new API allows your client application drive the content model update by maintaining the incremental recognition principle and using gesture notifications. All rendering is now done on the client side, allowing the implementation of new features such as lasso selection, ink copy/paste, and easier integration of custom rendering.

In addition, this new API relies on a "Raw Content" content part, where you can write and draw freely on a wide canvas and interact with the content without explicit segmentation into text, math, shapes or drawing.

➤ We have updated our iinkTS library to support this feature: We provide two new ready-to-use iinkTS samples that illustrate two different integration options:

  • Use iinkTS for ink capture, rendering and modeling. See iinkTS GetStarted.
  • Use your own framework for ink capture, rendering and modeling and use the iinkTS to send stroke updates to our recognition server. We have developed a React app example based on a tldraw canvas to illustrate such an integration. See iinkTS OffScreen Interactivity dedicated page.

Improvement of the iink Web configuration

To improve the interactivity configuration, we have revised our iink Web configuration for Raw Content and Diagram.
